Expressing complex emotion in the human face is the subject for Jugal Sarkar’s painting. Growing up in the northern part of West Bengal, Mr. Sarkar has developed a close kinship with the natural world and its connection with the indigenous people. That kinship is the basis for the portraits he paints.
The Kolkata-based artist works in acrylic, watercolor, and oil-medium with a bold color palette and fluid style to give his portraits a presence that captures the character of the person. Several original works of the artist are in possession of private collectors from various parts of the world.
